Touch
New
York

The pandemic has changed our relationship to touch, especially in public spaces. However, the things we hold (and where we hold them) can reveal a lot about ourselves. There is not a readily available source of data on New Yorkers' heights, so the TOUCH recipe creates a print of the distribution of height among New Yorkers by looking at where they hold subway poles. This recipe can be done for each subway line, neighborhood, or the city at large.
